Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Bratwurst Capital of the World. Home of The Dairyland Surf Classic, The Chordettes, Adrienne Nick. As the daughter of a coffee junkie…errr, aficionada…it was no surprise that she took to coffee. It fueled her 5 AM figure skating practices and kept her going through her studies. Her best friendships were built around coffee and music. When she wasn’t on the ice, Adrienne could be found working or hanging out with friends at Wonderful World Coffeehouse (closed) or the Weather Center Café.
She crossed state lines into Minnesota in 2006. Adrienne earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. She may have moved to the Mini Apple for school, but the arts culture has kept her there during the harsh winters. She held a variety of jobs and internships in the music business during her time at the U. She organized concerts and special events for the university, interned for a college radio promoter and booked tours for an agency in the Twin Cities. She spent a stint in Brighton, England at the University of Sussex. Here, she learned to craft the perfect cuppa while interning with a concert promoter.
During her final year of school, Adrienne began to work for a Dunn Bros store. She stayed on after graduation, going on to manage the shop and roast on the store’s San Franciscan. After a couple of years, the faint riffs of Purple Rain beckoned her back to the music business. Adrienne followed the sound to First Avenue, where she became the Booking Department Assistant. Despite the thrills of the rock ‘n roll lifestyle, she just couldn’t be kept away from the coffee industry. She found herself talking coffee with visiting artists –shops to visit in various cities; which brew methods bands use on the road. She leapt at the opportunity to work with the Café Imports team.
Adrienne lives with her coffee-roasting fiancé, Charlie, and their calico cat, Nona. When in Minnesota, you will find her cheering on [soccer teams] Arsenal and Minnesota United. She enjoys Frasier, craft beer, biking and long-distance running. In the future, this Cheesehead from Sheboygan plans on running a marathon (or more) and finally learning to play the accordion.
