Burundi Gacokwe

ID3612 Burundi Gacokwe is the first Burundi we have gotten this season. We have been anxiously awaiting this coffee, and now that it is here, we never want it to leave. This Burundi has a distinct character, different than most other Burundis we have ever seen. This Burundi has distinct notes of tangerine like citric acidity, vanilla with an extremely creamy and smooth body. Very "yirgy" in our opinion, the great ones. The citric acidity and full body keep this cup extremely balanced. We love Burundi and are so excited to keep discovering new flavor profiles coming out of this amazing coffee growing region.

Brazil Yellow Bourbons

The wait is over! Our first containers of Brazil Yellow Bourbons are finally rolling in. This year these coffees are now farm specific, and guess what? The first container that just landed, ID3595, is from Fazenda Rainha, the #1 COE winning farm of 2011. Their big win is a huge testament to the quality of coffee and work that is done thoughout their whole farm. This lot is extremely creamy, with notes of dark chocolate, orange peel, and vanilla. Pulling shots of this coffee is a pretty incredible experience. Bom Dia!

Rwanda Kigeyo

We have received our first container of this year's Rwanda ID3489, which cupped out as a classic, well-balanced cup. The distinctive acidity and rich juicy body makes this lot taste like fruit juice! The classic Rwandan wine-like profile and complex acidity shine through with plenty of citrus and sweetness to round out the cup. See ID P3489 for full cupping notes and keep an eye out for more Rwandans just around the corner.

Colombia Los Naranjos Fly Crop

This year we were extremely fortunate to have won the #1 winning COE lot from Colombia, more specifically, from Associacion Los Naranjos in Colombia. We secured their fly crop as well, and it has now arrived in our warehouse, ID3699. This coffee has been a godsend in our hopper over the past few weeks. It is very rich, with caramel notes, red fruit like raineer cherries, citric acidity, and dark chocolate. We liken the shots to sitting by a warm fire with stockings on...well that may be a little much, but seriously this coffee is heart warming and delicious.

FTO Peru CENFROCAFE

Our first containers of FTO Perus from CENFROCAFE are in our warehouse and ready to ship out. These coffees are extremely versatile and very clean. Their milk chocolate/caramel sweetness and distinct raisin notes make this a coffee that is a great component for espresso and also an excellent stand alone single origin offering on your menu. IDs 3459-3461

Guatemala Atitlan "La Providencia"

This coffee ID3564 is from a different farm than the La Providencia Pacamara, but as incredible in very different ways. I guess La Providencia is one of the hot farm names in Guatemala this year. ID3564 has extremely distinctive raineer cherry notes, complemented by a deep rich dark chocolate finish, and a very creamy body. This coffee is primo for espresso, and also works very well as a SO drip. Viva La Providencia!

Mexico Altura Chiapas/Coatepec

To say we have been blown away by these fancy Mexicans this year would be a huge understatement. These coffees are extremely clean and balanced, with notes of strawberries, lemon, cherry, and a well rounded creamy body. Excellent high grown Mexicans. ID3574 and ID3573

Guatemala Pacamara La Providencia

We have really been enjoying this Guatemala ID 3456. It is a beautiful large bean Pacamara with excellent bright pacamara acidity, rasperry and citric notes, and an extremely juicy mouthfeel. We would probably drink it all up here in the office if we could!

Mr. Arnulfo Leguizamo is 46 years old, son of a coffee farmer born in the municipality of Teruel, Huila. In his youth he studied several mechanical activities and after doing a lot of work in an urban environment, he decided that his future was in the field - dedicated to work with coffee. He started by planting half of a hectare in the property of his father in Teruel. He traveled to the municipality of San Agustín 23 years ago, in order to know the mystical sculptures at the Archeological Park. Nevertheless, the climate, the warm people and mainly the wealth of earth caused him to fall in love with this municipality where he met Mrs. Aura Rita Bolaños his wife and the mother of his four children: Mayeli, Joh Edison, Diego Felipe and Hamer Duvan.

He began with 1 hectare, an inheritance of his wife, and after a while he bought 3 more hectares that he planted little by little with coffee. His farm is called "Primavera" and it is located in the village "El Tabor" at the municipality of "San Agustín". Is cultivated with Caturra varietal and is being renovated to integrate the variety Castillo. He has been a Rainforest Alliance Certified farmer for 4 years, and he is committed to the protection to the environment. He is protecting springs and birds, he is recycling trash, and he doesn't spray out chemical products. These principles are because of his sons - he wants to keep his place at least without contamination or pollution so they can live and eat there in the future in a healthy way. His principals for the production of coffee are based on the quality; he says "I have to do things with love, dedication and with the support of my wife and my children.

The advantages of this land where my farm is located are a secret but mainly because of the high altitude and the right temperatures we produce coffee with the best attributes for its taste. It is important for us to harvest only ripe-red cherries and process on time. We have to wash coffee well with clean water and dry it under sun and air for that we use the system: 'Casa Elda'."
