Blizzard

We're experiencing blizzard-like conditions here in Minnie and will likely all be out of the office today, Friday, March 2nd. Freight companies were unable to make it in yesterday due to conditions and it's looking much the same for today. We apologize for any delays in shipping your coffee... but can't argue with Mother Nature.
We will be checking our emails and vmails periodically throughout the day and will likely be spending the rest of our day digging ourselves out.
We hope to be back in business on Monday.
Thanks!

The first Midwest Regional Roaster Group gathering

The first meeting of the Midwest Regional Roaster Group will be held on Saturday, March 31st at Cafe Imports' facility.
We will conduct a cupping and have a 'working lunch' to discuss the desires of the group on what is needed out of a group like this.
If you're a Midwestern roaster and would like to attend, please email Emily at emily@cafeimports.com
Thanks

How many pickled peppers did Peter Piper pick?

I’m excited to announce that Café Imports is purchasing a Clover 1s brewer to showcase our coffees at the SCAA show this year. After the show, the Clover will be installed in the cupping lab. If you don’t know what the Clover is, you can see it here.

What does this mean for us? Well, immediately, we’ll be able to show off our best coffees at the show in the closest way possible to the cupping table on a per-cup basis. There is tremendous buzz about how the Clover is changing the way some high-end specialty retailers do business. People can sell $50/lb. boutique coffees for $5 a cup to consumers with no waste. Many retailers are already having great success with this machine and more and more people are taking notice. Cafe Imports is excited to participate in the ongoing conversation surrounding the future of the specialty coffee industry and utilizing a Clover is another way we can stay in touch with the needs/wants of our clients. Plus, roasters and buyers who are in the know will appreciate tasting our coffee on the same high-end equipment they are using in their shops already or are planning on having in the future.

Once it’s here, we’ll be able to experiment with on-demand blending of roasted coffees and taste the results immediately. We’ll be able to brew any of our coffees at a production roast for clients fresh out of the sample roaster. Not to mention that we ourselves will be drinking fresh, kick-ass coffee all day long (this, of course, is the least important benefit).

trois Lintongs

We're bringing on a few different Sumatrans this year that I thought you should all be aware of.
On the water, we have Lintong triple picked, a Lintong special prep, and an aged Lintong ships in April.

Of course, we're still carrying our DP Mandheling Tiger, as well as Organic and FTO offerings.

You must check out these new Lintongs!

FTO Guate

FTO Guats have arrived.
These cupped out well. We found them to have a nice, firm body with chocolate notes and a rich aftertaste.

Spectacled Bear Donation

Since we started the Spectacled Bear program in the fall of 2005, we have donated $2121.90 to the Wildlife Conservation Society. This money is earmarked to study and help save the Spectacled Bear, endangered in Colombia.
Thank you for supporting this program!

Congrats to Heather Perry

Cafe Imports would like to send out a 'congrats' to Heather Perry and Coffee Klatch. Heather has just defended her title for the forth straight year as 'Best Barista in the West'.
We thought it noteworthy to point out, too, that two of the components in the Klatch's espresso are coffees from Cafe Imports: our Yellow Bourbon and the great Natural Ethiopian Sidamo that so many of you enjoyed.

We are proud of our inclusion in this blend and proud to be represented by such an outstanding coffee professional as Heather Perry and the crew at Coffee Klatch!
