Managing Partner

Jason wandered out the door as a small child many times and was often gone for hours exploring the giant storm drains that flowed into the river around his house. He also loved disappearing in grocery stores and shopping malls as a child and hiding in a doghouse for hours while his mother frantically looked for him.

This wanderlust never left him as he lived in China for a few years during college, and London for a while after that before returning to work in Philadelphia and New York. His travels have left no spare pages in his passport.

Now Jason has a home in Minnesota with two kids, a cat, a hamster, hermit crabs, field mice (squatters), and his wife. He also has a home at Café Imports.

Jason's previous professional life was that of a trader. He bought and sold the right to buy and sell currencies and commodities based on statistical relationships. Although he enjoyed the multi-dimensional chess game of this work, he never felt it was enough for him and now simply enjoys the aesthetics of coffee.

An avid homebrewer (a mild ale is now a bubbling for Halloween break-out), Jason is working on making the perfect hard cider, and thinking about brewing his first dry mead. But he seriously doubts if anyone can drink 5 gallons of the heavy drink.

When work and kids allow it, he's an avid mountain biker, hiker, camper, snowboarder, windsurfer, and diver. He tries to attach any or all of these activities to coffee trips. Most of the time, he is chief chauffeur for the kids.

At Café Imports he is a managing partner and the CGO (Chief Green Officer), basically coordinating the green coffee buys and working to make Cafe Imports more "green" (sustainable) as a company.

Other than that, he is trying to figure out if he can pull a top shot from a manual La Pavoni, and if not, can he convince his wife, that being in coffee it's okay to have a $3000 machine in the house? Don't hold your breath on that. And he's a Capricorn and a Goat in the Chinese zodiac.
