Operations Manager

The move to Minneapolis was a natural progression for a cowboy turned struggling guitar player from south central Iowa.  Mr. Hupton began working in the warehouse at Café Imports in December of 1999 and has since moved through nearly every position at the company including delivery driver, accounting, sales, purchasing, and logistics.  Matt’s current position as Operations Manager consists of coordinating all inbound freight from origin and U.S. ports, managing inventory, and assisting with sales, cupping, and purchasing. 

The last eight years at Café Imports have allowed him to travel to origin numerous times and build strong relationships with many producers and exporters, as well as coffee professionals here in the states.   He has gained an in-depth knowledge and  understanding of the international coffee industry which has proven invaluable in shaping his current world view. 

In his free time, Matt enjoys the Twin Cities’ diverse restaurant and music scene, recording and producing international artists for his own independent record label, and exploring the local wilderness with his lovely wife, six-year-old daughter and baby boy.
