<summary>Progresso Farms, Mucuge Brazil from Noah N on Vimeo. This is one video from a series of farm specific videos made by Cafe Imports. This video was shot during the Barista Champ Origin Trip 2011 to Brazil. It features Progresso Farms.

Fazenda Progresso started with production of soy bean. Beans failed due to lack of rain and no irrigation. Potatoes were a success though.

1984 farm started, coffee started 2005

The Borre Family found this region but at the time it was not advanced with agriculture.

Products: Coffee, potatoe, tomatoe, onion

1010 meters altitude

Region: Chipata diamantina

Closet city: Mucuge

Climate: distinct seasons good rain

Varietal: 80% Catui, sabia, &amp; topazu

This is a new area for coffee, and they are experimenting with varietals

Managing maturation with different varietals.

100% irrigated

Drops 10 C at night.

Avg Rainfall: 1000 mm

Distinct Microclimate

Size: 22000 hectares total, 850 hectares coffee. (producing 600 hectares now due to young trees)

Area is a Bioma: they made one unique reserve for the coffee land between all the coffee farmers. 20% of their land is dedicated to the reserve. 100m from each side of the river is untouchable.

Manual picking. They have 400 people hand picking coffee. The coffee is extremely uniform and well picked. The Catuai varietal is extremely dense with many many cherries on each arm.

They take very good care of their pickers. They have restaurant, bathrooms, and bus service for the employees. It is a family company with family values.

They are in the process of Rain Forest Alliance certification.

Annual production is 3 million kilos.

All wet and dry milling is done on site in a brand new facility.
