         <title>Brasil: Fazenda Progresso</title>

This video was shot during the Barista Champ Origin Trip 2011 to Brazil. It features Progresso Farms. <br /><br />Fazenda Progresso Started with production of soy bean. Beans failed due to lack of rain and no irrigation. Potatoes were a success though.<br /><br />1984 farm started, coffee started 2005<br /><br />The Borre Family&nbsp;found this region, but at the time it was not advanced with agriculture.<br /><br />Products: Coffee, potatoe, tomatoe, onion<br /><br />1010 meters altitude<br /><br />Region: Chipata diamantina<br /><br />Closet city: Mucuge<br /><br />Climate: distinct seasons good rain<br /><br />Varietal: 80% Catui, sabia, &amp; topazu<br /><br />This is a new area for coffee, and they are experimenting with varietals<br /><br />Managing maturation with different varietals.<br /><br />100% irrigated<br /><br />Drops 10 C at night.<br /><br />Avg Rainfall: 1000 mm<br /><br />Distinct Microclimate<br /><br />Size: 22000 hectares total, 850 hectares coffee. (producing 600 hectares now due to young trees)<br /><br />Area is a Bioma: they made one unique reserve for the coffee land between all the coffee farmers. 20% of their land is dedicated to the reserve. 100m from each side of the river is untouchable.<br /><br />Manual picking. They have 400 people hand picking coffee. The coffee is extremely uniform and well picked. The Catuai varietal is extremely dense with many many cherries on each arm.<br /><br />They take very good care of their pickers. They have restaurant, bathrooms, and bus service for the employees. It is a family company with family values.<br /><br />Annual production is 3 million kilos.<br /><br />All wet and dry milling is done on site in a brand new facility.<br />&nbsp;</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Andrew took the amazing trek to visit with these incredible farmers in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range in Northern Colombia.&nbsp; Their coffee is now available!&nbsp;</p><p>ID 3190, Teyuna&nbsp;</p><p>The cup is much richer than most Colombians.&nbsp; It&nbsp;has dark chocolate, tobacco, honey, and roasted peanut in the cup.&nbsp; This coffee has milder acidity than many of our other Colombian microlots from Huila and other regions.&nbsp; This is a very unique project, and we are very proud to work with the Kogui Tribe in Colombia!</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><iframe height="394" src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/23880207?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0" frameborder="0" width="700" allowfullscreen="" webkitallowfullscreen=""></iframe></p>]]></description>
