Carmo de Minas - Pulped Natural - Alice Estate (GrainPro)

View Beanology

Alice Estate is 300 ha. in total, with 110 ha. planted in coffee. The estate is managed by Carmo Coffee's Jacques Pereira Carneiro, and it is described as "The apple of Jacque's eyes." The estate lends an environment where Jacques can test his growing philosophies.

"Our region is already well-known for the quality of its coffee, but it's also common ground that Brazilian coffee is kind of a base; a less exciting ingredient of a blend. It's time to turn the table, to show that we're also innovative and we can put on the market exotic varieties as well as coffees processed by new methods with great flavor" — Jacques Pereira Carneiro.

Alice Estate took 2nd place at Cup of Excellence Brazil in 2002.

Other crops include banana and eucalyptus.

*Project CriaCarmo:

As part of our partnership with Carmo Coffee, we are involved with a project called CriaCarmo, a program funding Swimming classes and Karate classes for youth in the Carmo de Minas area. The program started in July 2013 and was created by Jacques Pereira and Luiz Paulo of Carmo. Proceeds for CriaCarmo are raised from Carmo coffee purchases, amounting to $7,500 in 2013 to help fund the program.
