Grupo de Productores de Cafe Sustentable de Baxtlawas formed in 2009. Sixteen producers banded together with the idea of achieving a better life for themselves and their families by increasing production anddifferentiating their product as quality, while at the same time improving the environment for the medium and long term. They created some standards of soil convservation, management of shade, specific rational fertilization and integrated management of pests and disease in harmony with the environment.
We first met this group after the harvest of 2014 through a cupping competition we held in Chiapas called "Lo Mejor De Mexico": They took seventh place and piqued our interest to visit them and support them. We visited again this harvest and hope we can continue to partner and support their efforts.
