This coffee is part of the “Million Pesos” program we have in Colombia for coffee that cups above 90 points.

A Million pesos per carga (125Kilos of pergamino) which is almost double what is being paid at traditional purchasing points. We have been doing this for about a year and producers are ecstatic when they make the grade as the price at the market is barely above the cost of production. We are excited to find coffees that cup above 90 points, so it is a real winner for both sides and something we can repeat.


Alexander’s 9 hectares farm is located in the vereda Sevilla, El Tambo municipality, Cauca department. The farm is divided in two: Bellavista and La Laguna. The soil of the farm is sandy which allows the roots to develop and grow nicely.

Alexander does a selective hand picking to collect only the ripe cherries. Once the cherries are harvested, he stores the coffee with the mucilage for 12 hours before starting with the pulping and fermentation process.

After 12 hours of waiting the coffee is ready to pulped and fermented. Alexander ferments using the dry process, meaning the coffee is fermented without water. Water is only used to wash the coffee once the fermentation is done. It takes around 12 to 13 hours for the fermentation to be done. Then the coffee goes to parabolic dryers; it takes 12 to 14 days to dry the coffee to the ideal moisture content.
