Italian immigrants brought coffee to the Bateia region around 1912 and forever changed the economy and landscape of the entire country. Following the tradition of handing family land down from father to son, local farmers began cultivating the crop and passing ownershipthrough their lineage. Valdeir Tomazini has followed this wave and worked diligently to achieve excellence in his craft. With his entire income depending on the crop, he started to hone his growing skill to produce the kinds of coffees demanded by the specialty market. Working with his family and the 35 farm members associated with the Tomazini plantation, Valdeirharvests over 350 bags (roughly 40,000 lbs) of coffee a year. The efforts of Tomazini and his cohortshave certainly paid off as we are now able to offer this Cataui as one of our highest quality ACES lots.
