View Beanology

Marcelo Moraes and his family own and operate Sitio Serra, locaed in the mountains of Pocos de Caldas, Sul de Minas Gerais. Marcelo and his wife, Edilaine, purchased Sitio Serra in 1999 when it had only 4000 coffee trees. Today, the farm has more than 13,000 trees, all planted by Marcelo himself. In 2013, a coffee from Sitio Serra took 1st place in a cup quality competition. Marcelo and Edilaine were very inspired by this and have since been seeking a means for better quality in their coffee; hence, harvesting only very ripe cherries, processing as soon as possible, and consistently moving it on the patio as it dries.
