Kirstin is from a small town is southeastern Minnesota and moved to the “big city” for college. Curiosity and adventure led her to South Africa and Kenya during her studies, and forever instilled in her a passion for travel, African history, and working with and learning from people across the globe. Following a degree in global studies and human rights & justice from the University of Minnesota, Kirstin joined the Peace Corps and spent two years in a rural village in Botswana working in HIV education and prevention. Although she found it difficult leaving Botswana, deciding to make Minneapolis her home base again was easy.
While she was new to coffee when she started at Cafe Imports, Kirstin’s not new to customer service—she's worked in restaurants since she was 15. Out of the office, Kirstin writes for two Minneapolis-based travel companies, serves up the Twin Cities’ best margaritas and carnitas tacos at a restaurant in St. Paul, loves live music and all things outdoors, and is probably planning her next trip.
