PURCHASE PLANNING

We have designed our purchase planning tools with you in mind to make buying coffee with us smoother than ever. By purchase planning, you can make decisions based on the most up-to-date information on current crop offerings with expert guidance from our sales reps working closely with our green buyers at origin. Planning ahead for this year’s Ethiopian harvest allows you first access to a wider variety of fresh-crop lots, the opportunity for greater possible creative sourcing outside our typical offerings, and the assurance of coverage throughout the year until the following harvest season. Ethiopia offers a wide variety of versatile cup profiles and our sales reps are here to plan ahead with you to find creative solutions for your business needs, whatever they may be!

WASHED & NATURALS

This harvest we are already approving washed samples and contracting coffees from our counterparties and we will continue to do so for the next few weeks. When it comes to Naturals, we expect to cup and contract the majority of our natural offerings throughout the month of February.

TIMELINE

Planning now always pays off later, here’s how simple planning can be:

JANUARY

Reach out to your sales rep about your needs in to start the new year off on the right foot.  By getting in touch ahead of time, you can take advantage of a larger selection of offerings to choose from.

FEBRUARY

We’ll have most of our Washed samples cupped and contracted . We expect to approve the majority of our Natural coffees this month, and will have a larger selection of offerings available for contracting.

FEBRUARY & MARCH

Washed coffees will start to ship, followed by Naturals.  At this point, we will have a much tighter perspective on final pricing based on ocean freight costs throughout these two months.

MARCH & APRIL

Washed coffees will start to arrive to our warehouse during this period and Naturals soon to follow. As always, we’ll keep you updated and samples of your contracted coffees will be headed your way as soon as they arrive.

CURRENT CROP

Our producer partners and counterparties confirm that the harvest this year has been earlier than predicted.

We have already cupped samples from Ethiopia this year that have been of higher quality than the standard of the last two years.

Due to pandemic disruptions, ongoing logistical bottlenecks have resulted in a global shipping backlog and a shortage of containers has affected the capacity to ship from anywhere. We expect slightly delayed shipments.

As we continue to cup and approve coffees, we will keep you abreast of any updates that pertain to this year’s Ethiopian coffees. It is clear to say that at this point, we expect an increase in price due largely in part to the price of cherries purchased from producers doubling this year over last. Once we begin finding bookings for our approved shipments, we will have a complete picture of final pricing as it pertains to you.
