Githima, along with the 6 other nearby factories, were once part of the Giant Mathira FCS but after the split in the 1950's they joined together to create the Rutuma Farmers Co-operative Society. The Coop is managed by an elected board of 7 Members one from each factory. The Coop has 39 permanent members of staff who, headed by a Secretary Manager, Carry out the day to day operations.
Githima its self has 430 registered members, 11 of which are promoter farmers, 1 internal auditor and 1 gender rep. They were all trained by SMS between 2010 and 2012 to help farmers at zonal levels carry out Good Agricultural practices (GAPS).
