A south Minneapolis native, Rachel grew up exploring the chain of lakes, rollerblading with her best friend, picking the raspberries in her backyard, and finding the neighborhood’s best sledding hills. An avid reader, she would often absorb herself in books to the exclusion of all else. Her voracious appetite for literature fueled a passionate interest in words and language, leading her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish languages at the Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.
After spending a surreal 6 months in Beijing during her junior year of college, Rachel returned to Asia following graduation to continue her studies in Mandarin at the International Chinese Language Program (ICLP) at National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan. Though completely captivated by the glittering night markets, lush terrain, and wonderful people there, she returned to Minneapolis in 2013 and was fortunate to join Café Imports as the International Logistics Coordinator in October of 2014. Since then, she has absorbed a world of knowledge about all aspects of green coffee and finds herself more and more engaged and invested in the entire coffee world each day. The ability to drink the most delicious coffee in the world every day hasn’t been too bad, either.
When she isn’t thinking about freight or asking her coworkers coffee questions, Rachel enjoys trying new foods, running, reading, studying Chinese, bikes rides, good wines and beers, spending time with family and friends, and annoying her sweet boyfriend, Patrick.
