Our People

Maria Paula Rojas

Logistics Coordinator – Oxcart Coffee

I grew up in the mountains of Tarrazú, specifically in a little town named San Pedro, since my childhood I was running and playing around the coffee plantations because my family belongs to a third generation of a long chain of coffee producers.

Despite living surrounded by coffee all my life, my first contact beyond production and harvesting was in 2018 when my dad suggested that I take a cupping class to learn more about the coffee process and get to know the quality that was on our farm,  after finishing my studies in International Relations and International Trade I decided to learn about coffee which I was especially captivated by the emotion and surprise generated by finding different flavors and how the work of many years is captured in a cup, this feeling makes me love the coffee industry.

In 2020 I had the opportunity to work for a specialty coffee exporting company in Costa Rica. There I got the experience of having a broad vision about the coffee chain, trying new origins, and for me, the most important thing was being part of the magic that exists behind the whole process of crossing oceans and skies to get coffees to different places in the world.

I love all the innovative projects that exist in Costa Rica but I particularly feel very interested in projects that involve women because it helps to provide more visibility.

In  2024 I feel very excited to discover with the Oxcart and Cafe Imports teams the best coffees in Costa Rica and take them to new places.

I love coffee in all its expressions and it makes me feel proud and motivated because I can contribute with my work to make the world better and many producers can be known in parts of the world that were never imagined.
